History and development
KÖBA-Sewifa can look back to a more than 70 year old company history.
Experience, continuous further development and investments in new manufacturing technologies have always been equally important for us.
As a medium-sized enterprise we cultivate a trustful and reliable cooperation with our customers.
Hans Köhler established his first company in Bernau near Berlin
the company moved from the east to the west into the municipality of Klein-Krotzenburg (near Seligenstadt)
the company was relocated to Seligenstadt as „Seligenstädter Wirkwarenfabrik“ (Sewifa), licence contract with Bayer AG for the processing of synthetic yarns (Perlon)
the product range was extended with articles made of synthetic fibres and the export business was enlarged
the production of fabrics for upholstery made of Perlon©-velours for the automotive and furniture industry started
the factory moved to Seligenstadt / district of Klein-Welzheim
KÖBA-Ausrüstungs-GmbH was founded completing the range of products by finishing and lamination
a laboratory for textile tests was installed
a quality management system was introduced
calibratable inspection machines were purchased
KÖBA and Sewifa merged to KÖBA-Sewifa GmbH
investments were made in a 80 ton punch press and an adhesive laminating plant as well as the appropriate peripherals
the first stage of completion of the division of "processing" was carried out by the purchase of a guillotine cutter (for the production of sheets) and a longitudinal cutter (for the production of narrow rolls in the slitting process)
the second stage of completion of the division of "processing" was carried out by the purchase of an ultrasonic welding plant (for the application of velcro tapes)
the third stage of completion of the division of "processing" was carried out by the purchase of a Moley cutting-off machine (for the production of narrow rolls in the cutting-off procedure)
Raffaele Peruzzi takes over the management. The Köhler family are owners and shareholders. Investment in a new stenter frame. Working widths of 360cm can now be realised
